Why don't your books have pronunciation help like other phrase books?
Our experience is that using the pronunciation help in phrase books is not always useful, especially with hard-to-speak languages. Our approach eliminates the hurdle of translating foreign sounds into something comprehensible by helping you communicate in the simplest way: by pointing at what you want to say.

How does it work--how do the locals answer questions you ask with
the book?
The content of the book focuses on communicating basic needs and has been developed and presented so that a complicated answer in return is not required. Often a 'yes' or 'no' shake of the head is all that's necessary.

Why is the content is limited to the basics?
Our book is designed to help you with the essential day-to-day needs of a traveler. If a person can't speak a foreign language, what good is a 'small talk' chapter? Other phrase books add bulk and weight with unnecessary content. By only giving you the essentials, it becomes easier to find what you're looking for quickly.

How did you develop the content?
Me No Speak books are based on our own personal experiences when traveling in each of the countries in our series. They are customized to reflect the realistic communication needs of travelers, whether on the road for 2 weeks or 2 months.

Don't you think travelers should try to speak the language of the country they're traveling?
Yes! We do believe travelers should learn, as much as possible, the local language while traveling... but sometimes, having a crutch (such as our book) is the difference between going hungry and having a decent meal, and is especially handy in times of emergency, like finding a toilet in time.
